Wow that's terrible. I'm sorry for your loss.
Thank you...yes it was terrible. Blood loss is not a pleasant way to go and it was completely unnecessary in my fathers case. He was in a modern hospital with all the equipment necessary to have saved him if only he hadn't been convinced to sign the "no blood" papers put in front of him.
The irony is that my Wife's Father was an American and he was an Elder and a life long JW. He knew what he was doing. He traveled to the bloodless surgery clinic in California that was set up especially to treat JW's. They were unable to boost his blood count in time to save him but at least he got to try something to save himself. But my kindly gentle hard working Father was a foreigner with no family in this country to call him to his senses. He never quite adjusted to living here and was only "studying" the Bible Literature with the JW's because my late Mother (also a foreigner) had become indoctrinated decades before and he wanted live forever in the "new system" with her the rest of us. The only thing he knew about blood transfusions was what he learned during those "studies" (indoctrination sessions). After he died we were assured by the Elders that since he had led an exemplary life and had died upholding Jehovah's laws, we'd most assuredly be seeing him again soon in the resurrection. Nevertheless, they couldn't allow us to hold his memorial at the Kingdom Hall because he was not a baptized JW.
(sorry to hijack this post. I've told my story here before but it's been quite some time ago. I always hope someone lurking (such as a current JW) might be saved from a similar fate or maybe someone at Headquarters will read it and be able to somehow make a change in this deadly and tragic misapplication of the scriptures)
we just had our co visit a few weeks ago.
apparently, he was encouraging all who could to regular pioneer, to at least try it out for a year.
because of this, we had a few people in our hall become one.. so this weekend we were on zoom service, and the sister that was just appointed was talking about it.
Since I suspect the whole door-to-door record-keeping thing was actually to maintain a “charity”-related paper trail (in case of auditing), and the Org’s tax-exemption is likely approaching it’s end, there probably isn’t much point, anymore.
True, and we were told to keep our time slips as proof that we were ministers, in case we were drafted. Luckily for those of us in the U.S. the draft was done away with before I needed them. Pioneers were thought to fare better when it came time to be drafted and that was a big draw for young guys of draft age back in the day.
My wife and I both lost our fathers over the blood issue. Hers was only 48 and mine was only studying with the JW's at the time and their untimely deaths occurred shortly before the"blood fractions" change occurred. This change surely would have saved my Father and possibly would have made it possible for my wife's father to receive the Chemo treatment he needed had his blood not been to weak to make it possible. That's when the curtain began to fall and eventually our 2 sons and one JW girlfriend and one daughter in law left at relatively the same time. We were all born in, active and in good standing JW's who were fully on board.
2 of my wife's born in sisters and 3 of her born in cousins left of their own accord. One of them left after her JW husband cheated on her with a sister in their congregation . Her x husband is back in but she is heavily shunned. She is happily married to a very honorable fellow and they have 3 kids now yet her Uber JW Elder/Pioneer parents have never met them...don't want to.
One of my own sisters and her born in husband left and my other sister and her born in husband and their kids are PIMO. My only brother and his wife are still in because they're heavily connected in a business and social way. He knows it's a hoax but won't face it because he enjoys the social network in a big way as does his wife. She's foreign and became a JW as a teen. She makes comments that show she doesn't understand or get the sense of the religion in the same way those of us from western counties do.

if the end is so near as the jehovah’s witnesses leadership claims (somehow they must have special insight), why are they building a movie studio that will be finished in 2026?.
it’s not the first time something of this nature has happened in the society’s history.
How will the studio receive power? Is it just hooked up to the power grid or does it have a solar farm?
I'm sure they'll say that Jehovah will see to it that the worlds power grid and satellites are left intact and that his Holy Spirit will enable our clever brothers and sisters from around the world to keep them operating.
At the same time, they'll ignore the fact that all the studios and printing facilities of the world could also be left intact and at their disposal and they don't need to build this new one. Not to mention the likelihood that all the TV and radio stations could also be left intact and they can broadcast JW info all day every day.
no one can steal your thunder when you are the fucking storm!
When I was in my 20's I had dinner in a Chinese restaurant in the international district and got a fortune cookie that said in misspelled and broken English.
"PAY PLEMIUM PLICE FIRS TIME....CLY ONRY ONCE"
("PAY PREMIUM PRICE THE FIRST TIME...CRY ONLY ONCE")
I kept the little strip of paper in my wallet until it fell apart. That simple saying has saved me a lot of self imposed grief and has been a running joke among my friends and family because we say it out loud in broken English (the way it was written) when we need a reminder to do the difficult thing first or pay the premium price and get it over with instead of trying to get out of it and end up paying twice or having to do it again the right way, later.
For example, when I ordered my new truck a few years ago, I was tempted to cut costs by not getting exactly what I wanted. My wife said in broken English "Pay Plemium Plice Firs Time...Cly Onry Once". So I did, and she was right...I wouldn't have been happy with it all these years if I'd have cut corners.

The excuse given was that even after Armageddon, the printing facilities would be needed in order to educate those who are resurrected during the 1,000 years reign of Christ.
Educate them about what? Wasn't the education work one of teaching the Bible and it's warning of what was in store for mankind? If Armageddon has come and gone, why not just get on with the business of living and do whatever it was Adam and Eve would be doing had things not gone wrong.
Besides, won't the Bible and all of the tons of literature and videos they've already produced still be around for anyone who needs a refresher course? They've covered every possible Bible subject a hundred times over. And if so, why would it take a thousand years? It's not that complicated. The complicated part of trying to figure out if it was real or not, would have been resolved.
What a hoax !

Oh I see, so if you swing down to the local hardware store to buy a new mower, it will probably come with a solar panel so that you can recharge it overnight.
This law follows Newsom’s 2020 executive order that prohibits the sale of all gas-powered vehicles by 2035.
Yes that's exactly what I mean and by all means make sure you actually do "swing" down to the hardware store, for god's sake don't drive there unless you have an electric vehicle. If you do happen to live in California, make sure you swing down there before the "ban" takes effect but until then you can carry on shouting at kids to get off your lawn and continue polluting and making noise as if you are still in the 1950's when the air was still clean, supplies seemed unlimited and we didn't know any better.

Question: Where are people getting the power to charge the lawnmower?
With todays technology, when pugged into a solar panel, a lawn mower battery would charge in about 4-6 hours or 3 hours in a regular home outlet. A larger solar panel would make it quicker. Hopefully one day (by 2035) batteries will be more efficient and eco friendly and wind or solar power will be available to cover the vehicles and equipment that once were gasoline powered.
